I’m so excited to share the magic of Averie’s senior portrait session from this past July! Averie is such a fun, spirited senior at Notre Dame Academy, and she absolutely loves hanging out with friends, exploring new spots, and soaking up the sun at the beach. If you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a Holden MA senior photographer specializing in photography that is light-filled and natural. Since Averie lives in Holden, MA, which is a bit of a trek from our chosen beach, she and her mom and sister decided to make a mini getaway out of it and stay overnight nearby. Let’s be real—getting up for a sunrise session in July means waking up super early, and who wants to drive a long distance at that hour?!

So, we kicked off the fun at 6 AM sharp, and, while it was a little chilly (even in summer!), Averie was such a trooper! She started off in the most beautiful bright pink long dress, and it was the perfect fit for the soft colors of the sunrise reflecting on the water. We had an absolute blast taking photos by the rocky coastline and walking along the shoreline.

Next up, Averie switched things up with a cute sapphire blue sundress. We wandered over to some seagrass and found this amazing stone wall that looked like something out of a fairy tale! With the sun peeking over the wall, we were able to capture some seriously stunning shots filled with golden light. As an experienced Holden MA senior photographer, I was simply in photographer heaven!

And let’s talk about the final look—Averie slipped into a flowing white sundress that was just dreamy! By the water’s edge, I couldn’t help but smile as she twirled and played in the waves. Those candid moments really showcased her carefree spirit and made for some of my favorite shots of the entire session!

We wrapped things up with some lovely pictures in the dunes, and Averie’s mom and sister joined in for a few fun family photos at the end. You could feel the love and joy between them, and it was such a sweet way to finish our morning!

All in all, this was such a delightful sunrise shoot! Averie’s radiant personality combined with the beautiful beach backdrop made it an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait to see sall the incredible things ahead for her after graduation! Here’s to new adventures, Averie!

Scheduling Your Senior Pictures

If you will need your senior pictures for your yearbook, you’ll want to have them taken the summer before your senior year or the autumn of your senior year. Do keep in mind that you should contact me as SOON as possible to schedule. I recommend booking at least 4 months in advance. In other words, you should ideally have your session scheduled by April or May of your junior year. However, I often have clients pre-book their session as early as an entire YEAR in advance! This is because they want to make sure they secure a prime spot.

The Best Time of Year to Schedule A Holden MA Senior Photographer

Many of my clients ask “Which month IS a prime spot for senior pictures?” Overall, my high school senior ladies prefer late July, August, or early September for their pictures. On the other hand, I personally prefer late September or October! It’s consistently less humid, less sticky, less buggy, less chance for sudden thunderstorms, and more golden :-). If you’re booking at the last minute and can’t get the date you want, don’t worry, there is also an option to book a sunrise session or mid-day session! In addition, you should also absolutely add your name to my waitlist.
