I’m asked all the time about guy beach senior pictures, so today I’m excited to share all about Drew’s amazing senior portrait session at the beach! Drew is an awesome student at Thayer Academy and an incredible athlete. He’s not just a star on the football and soccer teams, but he’s also a standout on the varsity baseball team. Excitingly, he’s already committed to play baseball at Babson College!
If you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a senior photographer specializing in photography that is light-filled and natural. I reside in Scituate, MA with my husband and two little boys. My blog is a place where I showcase all of my latest and greatest sessions! If you’d like to learn more about my senior packages and book your own senior session, head to the homepage of my website now.
We met up in early October, which is one of my favorite times for beach shoots. The golden light makes everything look magical, and the beach is pleasantly quiet, with the sea grass swaying gently in the breeze. We kicked things off in a big sandy area, and right away, Drew was a total natural in front of the camera! You see, I had the pleasure of taking pictures of his older brother Jack a couple of years back, and Drew was there, too, so he was already familiar with the fun of a photoshoot.
To keep things easy, I walked him through my four “guy poses” for guy beach senior pictures—we repeated them throughout the session, which made it super simple and fun! Drew’s smile was contagious, and he, along with his mom Lesley, made the whole experience feel so relaxed as we chatted and laughed along the way.
One of my favorite moments was when Drew put on his green Babson College tee. We got some fantastic shots against a big dune surrounded by trees—those truly made my heart smile! After that, Drew switched back to a sharp white button-down and dark pants, and we moved to a nearby fence on a charming hill. The view over the river and rolling hills was simply breathtaking.
To wrap up our session, we headed down to the shoreline just as the sun was setting. The beautiful hazy glow created the perfect backdrop, leading to some truly stunning photos. I find that for guy beach senior pictures, guys and moms alike always love that hazy golden glowl.
This session was so much fun, filled good vibes! I’m so grateful to have spent this time with Drew and his mom capturing these special memories. Here’s to Drew’s exciting journey ahead at Babson College—can’t wait to see all the amazing things he’ll accomplish!
If you will need your senior pictures for your yearbook, you’ll want to have them taken the summer before your senior year or the autumn of your senior year. Do keep in mind that you should contact me as SOON as possible to schedule. I recommend booking at least 4 months in advance. In other words, you should ideally have your session scheduled by April or May of your junior year. However, I often have clients pre-book their session as early as an entire YEAR in advance! This is because they want to make sure they secure a prime spot.
Many of my clients ask “Which month IS a prime spot for senior pictures?” Overall, my high school senior ladies prefer late July, August, or early September for their pictures. On the other hand, I personally prefer late September or October! It’s consistently less humid, less sticky, less buggy, less chance for sudden thunderstorms, and more golden :-). If you’re booking at the last minute and can’t get the date you want, don’t worry, there is also an option to book a sunrise session or mid-day session! In addition, you should also absolutely add your name to my waitlist.
Would you like to hire Christina Runnals as your own senior portrait photographer? Then you can book your session now, or find out more about a senior portrait session with Christina Runnals Photography! You can even view all of my pricing and package options here! Hope to hear from you soon!
