I am so excited to share Elise’s gorgeous Massachusetts beach senior pictures with you all! Firstly, if you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a senior portrait photographer specializing in senior photography that is light-filled and natural. Scituate, MA is the place I call home, and I live here with my husband and two little boys. I am incredibly honored to say that seniors from all over New England seek me out each year to take their senior photos. Personally, I love working with seniors, and Elise here was no exception! If you’d like to learn more about my senior packages and book your own senior session, head to the homepage of my website now. For Elise’s senior pictures, we began in an area with tall grasses. Elise wore a gorgeous white dress, which I absolutely adored because it reflected beautiful white light back up onto her skin! After we took pictures in the grasses, we moved to the water and took pictures against the backdrop of the beautiful sunset. As you can see, beach senior pictures are an AMAZING idea for your senior portraits!! But as an experienced senior photographer, I have seniors ask me to take photos in all sorts of different places! Many seniors want to take their pictures at the beach, and some opt for more of a field and tall grasses option. Another option is an urban, downtown setting. The list is endless! I recommend choosing a package that offers TWO locations, such as my Sand Dollar Package. Having two locations gives you such amazing variety in your pictures. You get different types of lighting and tons of different backgrounds.
Many of my clients ask to do their pictures in a flowery location. I have several beautiful spots I love for pictures with flowers! It can always be fun to try new and different places too! I obviously love Flower Field senior pictures, they give you so many beautiful colors in the background.
As I mentioned, beach locations are very popular for senior pictures where I live. While I love field senior pictures, I also LOVE beach senior pictures! There are several beaches nearby where I live that I love to go.
I LOVE taking pictures in a downtown location. This isn’t a very common ask from my seniors, but once in a while I get to do it! Brick walls, white columns, fountains, windows, stairs- these elements are the makings of amazing pictures!!
If you’re looking for less flowers and more field, pictures in a field are stunning!
If you want to have your senior pictures taken at the beach, I recommend wearing soft neutral colors. Neutral colors will reflect a beautiful color onto your face, and will go with any color the sunset throws at us! If you’d like to wear jeans for your pictures, I suggest a light color. My favorite thing to wear would be a sundress or a long flowy dress. Long flowy dresses are so beautiful in pictures! This is because long flowy dresses or skirts can add movement and all sorts of fun poses to your pictures.
A professional photographer should be able to guide you in your wardrobe for your shoot! I send out a style and session guide to all of my senior clients. My style guide gives you my best and top-secret tips for how to nail your style at your session. And speaking of guides… I have created a FREE guide for you on what NOT to wear for your senior portraits! Download it today to make sure you don’t make any major wardrobe mistakes for your photoshoot!
I get lots of questions about senior sessions, so I will highlight a few of my most frequently asked questions here!

We will reschedule of course! I can usually reschedule within a week or two of your original session date. Personally, I prefer to shoot on a sunny evening for that beautiful glow, so I will even offer to reschedule if it is simply very cloudy! I am happy to shoot in humidity, However, I will gladly reschedule your session if your hair gets frizzy in humidity. In fact, that is a question I ask in the questionnaire you will receive after booking your session! You definitely do not want frizzy hair for your Massachusetts beach senior pictures!
