I am so excited to share with you these adorable pictures of Baby Taylor! As a Norwell newborn photographer, it’s always especially a pleasure to meet families in the town right next to where I live! Scroll to read the story of how I met Taylor’s family, and to see my favorite pictures from his newborn session!
The way I met Baby Taylor’s parents and big sister is a funny story. I was waiting to meet a friend of mine for dinner at Salt Society in Scituate last summer. Of course, I had arrived extra early to put our names in, and then decided to kill time by sitting on a bench on the water and doing some editing on my MacBook. I saw a young couple and their little girl attempting to take a family picture, and then the dad also taking a picture of the mom and daughter. The mom was distraught that her daughter wouldn’t smile, and felt she didn’t look her best in the picture, etc. The typical family night out with a toddler! As a mom myself to two toddlers, I know how stressful life in general can be!! I knew I had my camera in my car, so I decided to do something I *never* ever do, and asked them if they’d like me to take a picture of them with my camera. The rest is history! I ended up taking their maternity pictures a few months later, and baby Taylor’s newborn pictures a few weeks ago.

If you have a lot of natural light in your home and light colored walls, your home may be perfect for a lifestyle newborn session! As an experienced Norwell newborn photographer, my opinion is that sessions in your own home are so very special. This is because you and your child will look at these pictures someday and see how rooms in your home *actually* looked. We will document you and your family doing things you *actually* did at the time. Sessions in your home are incredibly organic and natural! On the other hand, newborn sessions in a studio have a totally different vibe. However, as I said, for a session in your home you do need to have abundant natural light. It is also important that your home is somewhat of a tidy place!
A lifestyle newborn session in your home is the perfect way to capture the most precious memories of your new baby in a relaxed way. This type of session is a great way to highlight a beautiful nursery or to include siblings or special pets. During these lifestyle sessions I use gentle and relaxed posing, which allows for natural connection and capturing authentic interactions with your new baby. I would love to let you know more about the planning process for a session!
As soon as you’ve decided you’d like to book your session with me, fill out my booking form. I recommend reaching out to me as early as possible to make sure I have space available. I will send you an invoice and contract, you’ll need to pay the deposit (50%) in order to secure your spot. Then, you’ll let me know when your baby arrives so we can schedule your exact session date!
After you’re booked, I will send you my session Style Guide that will give you all the tips and tricks you will need to know to have a stress-free session, including what to wear, colors that photograph beautifully, how to prepare your spouse and other children, and how to prepare your home. We will chat by phone, text or email about outfit ideas and hair & makeup artist recommendations should you need them. As an experienced Norwell newborn photographer, I have all the best connections!
Your session will take place in your home 1-2 weeks after your baby has arrived. I can bring several items if you’d like, including a Moses basket and a white stretchy wrap- both are completely optional to use! In addition, I will bring my magical baby shusher and a few other tricks of the trade!
I will carefully edit your images in my signature bright, light, and airy style with the latest high-end editing software. Within 2-3 weeks, your images will be emailed to you in a private online gallery where you can easily download them or order professional prints and products!
For your baby’s newborn session, I suggest a long flowy dress for mom. This is because this type of dress is incredibly flattering to the female figure. I have several favorite places to purchase this type of dress! I love the websites Baltic Born, Vici Collection, and I also love Asos. If you are self conscious about certain parts of your body keep that in mind! For me, I am self conscious about my arms, so I prefer dresses that cover my arms! In addition, I recommend light, neutral colors for your session. These colors photograph beautifully, and will also not cast odd colors onto your skin.
As an experienced Norwell newborn photographer, I know that your pet is a special part of your family. Therefore, I am happy to incorporate them into your session! I recommend planning for your pet to be at the first part of your session and then having a friend take him/her somewhere else, or keeping the dog at home but away from all the action. We won’t use the pet in every single photo so it’s also nice to have a friend available to hold him or her in between shots. If you’re going to incorporate a pet, I recommend exercising your pet before the session and having your pet’s favorite toy or treats handy! Depending on your pet’s fur type, it might also be a good idea to groom them before the shoot and have a lint roller nearby to keep your clothes looking fresh.
