A senior portrait session is a special time to capture the essence of a high school senior as they transition into adulthood. In this blog post, I want to share the wonderful experience I had working with Belle, a senior at Weymouth High School. If you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a Weymouth senior portrait photographer specializing in photography that is light-filled and natural. If you’d like to learn more about my senior packages and book your own senior session, head to the homepage of my website now.

Step 1: Virtual Consultation

From our very first virtual online consultation, I could tell that Belle and her mother Ellen were excited about this milestone in Belle’s life. They had a vision for her senior portraits, and I was thrilled to be a part of making that vision a reality.

Step 2: The Session!

We chose a beach location for the first part of Belle’s session. It was a blustery fall morning when we met at 9:30 AM. Belle looked radiant in a delicate white sundress as we ventured into the tall golden sea grasses and against the backdrop of fading goldenrod flowers.

If you’re thinking about your own senior portraits, remember that certain times of the year offer unique opportunities. Mid-September to early October is the perfect time if you love the look of yellow flowers, as the beach is adorned with beautiful yellow goldenrod blooms.

Outfit #2 | Long Navy Dress

For Belle’s second outfit, she changed into a stunning floor-length navy gown. Despite the windy weather, Belle’s auburn hair looked absolutely breathtaking as it danced in the wind. We captured some beautiful shots on the sandy beach, embracing the natural elements.

Our Second Location: A Small and Beautiful Field

To add more variety to Belle’s session, we headed to a picturesque local field. Belle decided to keep her navy dress on for the first shots in the field. The wind was less intense here, allowing us more creative freedom to capture the perfect moments. Against the backdrop of lush green grass, Belle shone in her dress.

Outfit #3 | Wide Leg Jeans & a Cream Colored Sweater with Navy Stripes

Belle’s final look was a casual yet stylish ensemble – jeans and a cream-colored sweater with navy stripes. This outfit blended perfectly with the natural surroundings as Belle posed on a large rock and along a rock wall bordering the field.

Weymouth Senior Portrait Photographer Sunshine Session

It’s worth mentioning that Belle’s session was a Sunshine Session. This is a type of session that takes place at 9:30 AM on a weekday in Scituate, where I am based. Many people believe that photo sessions should occur during the “golden hour” at sunset. However, with a skilled photographer who knows how to work with natural light, daytime pictures can turn out beautifully.

In conclusion, Belle’s senior portrait session was a delightful experience filled with light and natural beauty. From the beach to the field, we captured the essence of Belle’s senior year, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Working with seniors like Belle is truly fulfilling. I am grateful to have been a part of this milestone in her life.

When To Book Your Senior Pictures

If you’re an upcoming senior looking to have your picture printed in your yearbook, the best time to schedule your session is during the summer before your senior year or in the early autumn of your senior year. It’s essential to contact me as soon as possible to secure a spot. I recommend booking at least four months in advance, as many clients often reserve their sessions up to a year ahead of time to get their desired slot.

The Best Time of Year to Schedule Senior Pictures

Often, my clients ask me, “Which month is the best for senior photos?” Overall, my high school seniors prefer late July, August, or early September. However, personally, I recommend late September or even October. During this time, the weather is consistently less humid, sticky, and buggy. The golden hues add a magical touch to the portraits.

If you find yourself booking at the last minute and can’t get your desired date, don’t worry! There are options for sunrise sessions or mid-day sessions, which will still result in gorgeous photos. Additionally, I have a waitlist that you can join to stay updated on any available spots.
