Photoshoots & Bedtime for Little Ones

As you can see from the picture above, little Kieran was already getting sleepy so we had to work fast! It’s such a tricky balance to take family photos with little ones. As a mom of two toddlers myself, I am extremely familiar with the importance of “bedtime”!! In New England, the only time of year that is really “doable” for family portraits is April through October. Unfortunately, almost all of those months have sunsets pretty late into the evening. The exception to this is October and some of September.

One of the best parts of my job as a Norwell family photographer is getting to hear what my clients think of their experience and their photos. On our way back to the parking lot, the O’Connors said that they had had so much fun and felt like pictures always come out the best when they are having fun. They also loved the amount of direction that I gave them. I try to give plenty of direction during my sessions, but I also leave tons of room for flexibility!

For your family portraits, do keep in mind that you should try to contact me as SOON as possible to schedule. I recommend booking at least 4 months in advance for summer and fall sessions. I often times even have clients book as early as a year in advance to make sure they secure a prime spot! If you’re booking at the last minute and can’t get the date you want, you could email me about a sunrise session. I can often make time for an early morning session while my children are still sleeping :-). Hope to hear from you soon!
