I recently had the pleasure of photographing Nate, a senior from Plymouth North High School, for his portrait session at the beach during sunset. If you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a senior photographer in Plymouth MA specializing in photography that is light-filled and natural. If you’d like to learn more about my senior packages and book your own senior session, head to the homepage of my website now.

Two years ago, I also had the pleasure of taking Nate’s sister Ella’s senior portraits, so it was really special to have their family back again. Nate’s mom, Andrea, joined us for the session and let me tell you, she’s such a joy to be around!

Now, let’s talk about Nate. He was such an easy-going guy and incredibly photogenic. It made my job as a photographer even more enjoyable! For our first set of shots, we found a beautiful spot in the beach grass with stunning dunes and trees in the background. Nate looked absolutely dashing in his dark blue button-down t-shirt and khakis. The colors complemented the natural surroundings perfectly and gave a soft, relaxed vibe to the photos.

Next, Nate decided to switch things up a bit and change into a stylish long-sleeved black button-down. We moved to different spots by fences and the shoreline to capture some more shots. The contrast between the black shirt and the natural elements of the beach created a striking and sophisticated look.

Throughout the session, I couldn’t help but notice how the setting sun played with the light. It added a magical touch to the photos, creating warm and golden tones. The natural lighting made Nate’s features stand out beautifully, emphasizing his features and giving a natural glow.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Nate and his family. The beach, the sunset, and the fun and lovely company made this senior portrait session truly memorable. I’m grateful to be able to capture these precious moments and document Nate’s journey into adulthood.

I hope you enjoyed reading about this special photo session. Stay tuned for more photography adventures, where we always strive to capture the best light and create natural and stunning images.

When To Book Your Senior Pictures

If you’re a senior looking to have your pictures featured in your yearbook, the best time to schedule your session is during the summer before your senior year or in the early autumn of your senior year. It’s essential to contact me as soon as possible to secure a spot. I recommend booking at least four months in advance, as many clients often reserve their sessions up to a year ahead of time to get their desired slot.

The Best Time of Year to Schedule Senior Pictures

Often, my clients ask me, “Which month is the best for senior photos?” Overall, my high school seniors prefer late July, August, or early September. However, personally, I recommend late September or even October. During this time, the weather is consistently less humid, sticky, and buggy. The golden hues add a magical touch to the portraits.

If you find yourself booking at the last minute and can’t get your desired date, don’t worry! There are options for sunrise sessions or mid-day sessions, which will still result in gorgeous photos. Additionally, I have a waitlist that you can join to stay updated on any available spots.
