When your name is Rose and the beach roses are blooming, posing with them is basically required! As a Duxbury senior photographer, I couldn’t have dreamed up a more perfect setting for Rose’s session than her family’s summer house on the beach. We had gorgeous light, beautiful coastal scenery, and the most magical evening for her senior portraits.

Rose is a senior at Thayer Academy, and I was so excited when her family contacted me about her session. I had photographed her sister’s senior pictures at this very same house a few years ago, and I have been hoping for an excuse to return ever since. The property is absolutely gorgeous, and having the chance to photograph another senior in such a meaningful family location made the evening even more special.

A Duxbury Senior Photographer’s Dream Location

As a Duxbury senior photographer, I am always looking for locations that offer beautiful light, natural scenery, and plenty of variety. Rose’s family’s summer house has all three! We had the beach right outside the door, soft coastal greenery, beautiful beach roses, and the dreamiest sunset light.

There is also something extra special about taking senior portraits in a place filled with family memories. These aren’t just beautiful beach pictures; they capture Rose during such an exciting season of her life in a location that already means so much to her family.

Roses for Rose—Obviously!

Of course, we had to take advantage of the beautiful beach roses blooming around the property. A senior named Rose posing beside the roses? The opportunity was simply too perfect to pass up!

The flowers added such a pretty pop of pink to her portraits and looked beautiful against the soft coastal colors. It was one of those little details that made the session feel as though the entire location had been waiting just for her.

Sunset Magic with a Duxbury Senior Photographer

The evening gave us everything we could have hoped for: warm golden light, calm water, soft skies, and the most gorgeous sunset to finish the session. As a Duxbury senior photographer, these are the nights I dream about! The light changed beautifully throughout the evening, giving us plenty of variety while still making the entire gallery feel effortless and cohesive.

Rose looked absolutely stunning, and the relaxed beach setting was perfect for her. From the greenery and flowers around the house to the sand and water at sunset, every part of the property gave us another beautiful backdrop.

Senior Pictures in a Place That Feels Like Home

One of my favorite parts of being a Duxbury senior photographer is creating images that feel personal to each senior. Choosing a family home or another meaningful location adds a layer to the photographs that simply cannot be recreated anywhere else.

Years from now, Rose and her family will be able to look back at these portraits and remember not only her senior year at Thayer Academy, but also all the summers and family memories connected to this beautiful home by the beach.

The Best Time of Year for Beautiful Senior Pictures

Many of my clients ask me, “When is the best time of year for senior pictures?”. Most of my seniors love late July, August, or early September. However, my personal favorite months are late September and October. The air is crisper, and the humidity and bugs have calmed down. Additionally, the chance of pop-up thunderstorms drops way down, and the light turns extra golden. This makes everything feel dreamy and effortless.
