This session felt extra special because I photographed Bree’s older sister, Brynn, two years ago. Seeing this wonderful family again made the evening even more meaningful.

The best part? I actually met Bree during Brynn’s senior session. Back then, she was the younger sister cheering from the sidelines. Fast forward two years, and suddenly she was the senior standing in front of my camera. Parents… you really aren’t kidding when you say the years fly by. Bree has grown into such a kind, confident young woman. She trusted me completely throughout her session, and that always makes for beautiful, natural portraits.

Golden hour showed off the South Shore at its absolute best. Warm light spilled across the dunes. The beach grass glowed. Every path through the sand looked like it belonged in a magazine. This is exactly why I love scheduling beach sessions close to sunset. The light becomes soft and flattering, and the entire landscape feels calm and dreamy. It doesn’t hurt that everyone looks amazing during golden hour.

Four Outfits, Four Completely Different Looks

Bree came prepared with four beautiful outfits, and each one gave us a completely different gallery. I always encourage seniors to bring variety. Different outfits create different moods without changing locations.

An Emerald Green Dress in the Dunes

We started with Bree’s gorgeous emerald green dress. The flutter sleeves moved beautifully in the breeze, and the rich green color popped against the soft sand and coastal greenery. Some of my favorite images happened while Bree simply sat in the dunes. She smiled, laughed, and relaxed into the moment. Those natural moments always become client favorites.

Casual Never Goes Out of Style

Next, Bree changed into a white camisole with a light denim mini skirt. I love including one casual outfit during every senior session. It feels youthful, effortless, and timeless. We wandered through sandy paths and beach grass while the sun continued to drop. Everywhere we looked, the light kept getting prettier. Golden hour really refuses to disappoint.

My Favorite Outfit of the Night

Then came the outfit that completely stole my heart. Bree paired a soft cream, flowy top with relaxed blue jeans. The neutral colors looked incredible against the dunes, blooming beach roses, and warm evening light. Her blonde hair practically glowed as the sun wrapped around her. Every photographer has those moments where they quietly think, Okay…this is magic. This was one of those moments.

Of course, we couldn’t finish without heading to the shoreline. Bree changed into a beautiful white dress just as the sun reached the horizon. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Small waves rolled onto the beach. The water reflected soft golden light. Everything looked peaceful. These portraits have such a timeless feel. I know they’ll be just as beautiful decades from now. Ending in the water has become one of my favorite ways to finish a beach senior session. It always feels relaxed, fun, and unforgettable.

One of my favorite parts of this job is photographing siblings. Families invite me back for another senior session, and suddenly I get to see how much everyone has grown. That’s exactly what happened with Bree. When I photographed Brynn, Bree watched from the sidelines. This time, she stood confidently in front of my camera. It was amazing to see how much she had matured over the past two years. She never stopped smiling, and she made my job incredibly easy.

The Best Time of Year for Beautiful Senior Pictures

Many of my clients ask me, “When is the best time of year for senior pictures?”. Most of my seniors love late July, August, or early September. However, my personal favorite months are late September and October. The air is crisper, and the humidity and bugs have calmed down. Additionally, the chance of pop-up thunderstorms drops way down, and the light turns extra golden. This makes everything feel dreamy and effortless.

Scheduling Your Hingham Senior Pictures

If your school requires a senior portrait for the yearbook, you’ll want to plan your session for the summer before senior year or early fall of senior year. The most important thing to remember? Book your date as soon as possible! I recommend booking at least four months in advance – ideally by April or May of junior year. Many of my clients even use our priority booking system to reserve their session a full year ahead of time! Priority Booking means you’ll reserve your preferred month for senior portraits, place your deposit, and be officially guaranteed a spot during that month. Your exact session date will be selected in April.
