As a South Shore senior photographer serving students throughout Massachusetts, I love welcoming families from all over New England to my favorite beach locations. When Jillian, a student at Ursuline Academy, traveled from Dedham for her senior session, I knew we were in for a beautiful morning. If you’re searching for a Dedham MA photographer for senior pictures, Jillian’s gallery is the perfect example of the soft, natural, timeless images that can come from a relaxed beach session.

A Perfect Morning at the Beach

Jillian’s session took place during one of my favorite time slots: 9:30 in the morning. We were greeted by hazy skies that created the most gorgeous light imaginable. While many people think sunny skies make for the best photos, these softly filtered mornings often produce the most flattering conditions.

The result was dreamy, luminous light that complemented Jillian beautifully and gave her entire gallery a timeless feel.

The Best Cheerleader Every Senior Needs

Jillian’s mom joined us for the session, and she could not have been more supportive.

One of the things I love most about senior portraits is getting to meet the families behind the students. Jillian’s mom spent the morning encouraging her, helping with outfit changes, and celebrating every beautiful image along the way. Having someone in your corner who is genuinely excited for you makes such a difference, and it was easy to see the special bond these two share.

Bringing Meaningful Outfits to Your Senior Session

One of my favorite details from Jillian’s session was her stunning white sundress. The delicate eyelet detailing along the hem was absolutely perfect for the beach, but what made the dress even more special was its story.

Jillian and her mom found the dress together while shopping at a boutique during a trip to Charleston. I always love when seniors incorporate pieces that have personal meaning. Years from now, these photographs won’t just remind Jillian of her senior year—they’ll remind her of that special trip and the memories she shared with her mom.

For her second look, Jillian wore a colorful floral top paired with white pants. The bright, cheerful colors worked beautifully against the soft beach tones and added wonderful variety to her gallery.

Why Beach Senior Pictures Never Go Out of Style

The beach offers so much variety in a single session. We were able to photograph Jillian among the dunes and sea grass, on the sandy shoreline, and by the water’s edge as gentle waves rolled in behind her.

The neutral colors of the beach allowed Jillian’s personality to shine while creating photographs that will feel just as beautiful years from now as they do today. It’s one of the many reasons beach sessions continue to be one of the most popular

Congratulations, Jillian!

Jillian was such a joy to photograph. Her warm smile, easygoing personality, and quiet confidence made every part of the session feel effortless.

Jillian, thank you for making the trip from Dedham and for trusting me to capture this exciting season of your life. It was such a fun morning spending time with you and your wonderful mom.

I hope you have an incredible senior year at Ursuline Academy and enjoy every moment of it!

The Best Time of Year for Beautiful Senior Pictures

Many of my clients ask me, “When is the best time of year for senior pictures?”. Most of my seniors love late July, August, or early September. However, my personal favorite months are late September and October. The air is crisper, and the humidity and bugs have calmed down. Additionally, the chance of pop-up thunderstorms drops way down, and the light turns extra golden. This makes everything feel dreamy and effortless.

Scheduling Your Dedham Senior Pictures

If your school requires a senior portrait for the yearbook, you’ll want to plan your session for the summer before senior year or early fall of senior year. The most important thing to remember? Book your date as soon as possible! I recommend booking at least four months in advance – ideally by April or May of junior year. Many of my clients even use our priority booking system to reserve their session a full year ahead of time! Priority Booking means you’ll reserve your preferred month for senior portraits, place your deposit, and be officially guaranteed a spot during that month. Your exact session date will be selected in April.
