If you’re new around here, hi! I’m Christina Runnals, a photographer based in Scituate, Massachusetts, where I live with my husband and our two little boys. I photograph joyful, fun-loving seniors from all over New England and beyond, and my images are known for being luminous, natural, and full of life. Here on the blog, I share recent sessions like Aubrey’s Silver Lake Regional senior portraits, along with styling ideas, outfit inspiration, and plenty of photo eye candy.
Aubrey, a senior at Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston, MA, showed up for her 9:30 AM session absolutely glowing – coffee in hand, ocean breeze in her hair, and ready to crush her shoot.
Morning light gets such a bad rap, but when it’s a crisp September morning like this one? Chef’s kiss!

We kicked things off at the beach, and I immediately knew this session was going to be good. Aubrey started in a white button-down dress that gave total effortless-summer energy. Her red lipstick popped against the pale sand, and the sunlight hit just right.
Then she switched into the dreamiest sky-blue mini dress, which basically matched the Atlantic. Between her relaxed smile, the rolling waves, and that glowy light, it all felt straight out of a New England summer movie.

Next stop…. a nearby field doing its best impression of autumn perfection. Think golden wildflowers, soft greens, and just the tiniest hint of fall color creeping in.
Aubrey changed into a navy satin dress that looked incredible against the yellow blooms, and later, a black top and jeans. A simple, classic look that always photographs beautifully. I swear, she could’ve been modeling for a fall fashion campaign.

Let’s give September the credit it deserves. The light? Perfection. The temps? Comfortable. The beaches? Empty. You get all the glow of summer without the sweat. It’s basically the best-kept secret in senior portrait season, and Aubrey’s gallery proves it.

Aubrey’s Silver Lake Regional senior portraits had everything – soft ocean light, golden fields, and the kind of easy confidence that makes photos shine. If you’re ready for your own luminous, natural senior portraits (and maybe a good laugh or two), you can learn more about my senior experience here.
Many of my clients ask me, “When is the best time of year for senior pictures?” While most of my seniors love late July, August, or early September, my personal favorite months are late September and October. The air is crisper, the humidity and bugs have calmed down, the chance of pop-up thunderstorms drops way down, and the light turns extra golden – making everything feel dreamy and effortless.
If your school requires a senior portrait for the yearbook, you’ll want to plan your session for the summer before senior year or early fall of senior year. The most important thing to remember? Book your date as soon as possible! I recommend booking at least four months in advance – ideally by April or May of junior year. Many of my clients even use our priority booking system to reserve their session a full year ahead of time! Priority Booking means you’ll reserve your preferred month for senior portraits, place your deposit, and be officially guaranteed a spot during that month. Your exact session date will be selected in April.
