When Madison, a Nashoba Regional High School senior, set out looking for a Stow MA senior photographer, she ended up on the South Shore with me! Madison’s sunset beach session was full of glowing light, easy laughter, and the kind of dreamy skies you only get in September.
Hi! I’m Christina Runnals, a senior photographer based in Scituate. I live here with my husband and our two little boys. I photograph joyful, fun-loving seniors from all over New England and beyond. My style is luminous, natural, and always filled with personality.
This blog is where I share recent senior sessions, styling ideas, and location inspiration. It’s basically a behind-the-scenes look at how my clients’ portraits come together. In addition, it’s a great way to start imagining your own.
We kicked off Madison’s session with her in a crisp white dress. The dress looked amazing against the beach grasses and dunes. The simplicity of the dress let her personality shine, while the soft breeze gave her hair that effortless, beachy vibe every senior dreams of.

Next up, Madison switched into a light pink top paired with jeans…. a perfect mix of laid-back and polished. This look brought out her fun, relaxed side, and gave the gallery a totally different energy. It’s proof that one outfit change can make a session feel twice as dynamic.

And then came the moment. Madison changed into a stunning cobalt blue dress she had bought at a boutique in Italy. This dress wasn’t just an outfit – it was a whole moment. Flowing fabric, rich color, and the way it caught the evening light made it the undeniable star of her gallery. As she walked along the shoreline at sunset, the dress trailed through the surf and created photos that felt straight out of a fashion editorial.

Let’s talk about that sunset. September evenings are made for senior photos: the beaches are calmer, the light is soft and golden, and the skies put on a show. Madison ended her session walking along the shoreline as the sun melted into the horizon, her Italian dress glowing against the pastel sky. It was the kind of ending every senior hopes for.

Madison’s portraits prove that working with a Stow MA senior photographer doesn’t mean staying in Stow – it means finding the perfect mix of style, location, and personality. Sometimes the best senior photos happen when you venture somewhere new, and Madison’s beach session is proof of that.
Madison brought the outfits, the confidence, and her joyful spirit. I brought the beach, dreamy September light, and my camera. Together, we created a gallery that feels timeless, vibrant, and completely “her.”
Many of my clients ask me, “When is the best time of year for senior pictures?” While most of my seniors love late July, August, or early September, my personal favorite months are late September and October. The air is crisper, the humidity and bugs have calmed down, the chance of pop-up thunderstorms drops way down, and the light turns extra golden – making everything feel dreamy and effortless.
If your school requires a senior portrait for the yearbook, you’ll want to plan your session for the summer before senior year or early fall of senior year. The most important thing to remember? Book your date as soon as possible! I recommend booking at least four months in advance – ideally by April or May of junior year. Many of my clients even use our priority booking system to reserve their session a full year ahead of time! Priority Booking means you’ll reserve your preferred month for senior portraits, place your deposit, and be officially guaranteed a spot during that month. Your exact session date will be selected in April.
