As a Massachusetts studio branding photographer, one of my favorite parts of the process is helping business owners create a library of images that feel professional, approachable, and uniquely theirs. Rachel’s session was the perfect example of how small details can make a huge impact. When Rachel, the owner of Dean Bookkeeping Solutions, traveled up from Cape Cod for her branding session, she arrived with exactly what I hope every branding client brings: a clear vision, thoughtful details, and a few personal touches that tell the story of her business.

Building a Brand Story Through Photography

Rachel wanted imagery that reflected the experience her clients can expect when working with Dean Bookkeeping Solutions: organized, welcoming, professional, and trustworthy. To create that story, we focused on a mix of polished headshots, lifestyle images, and custom brand details.

From the moment she walked into the studio, it was clear Rachel had put thought into every element. Her soft sage blazer paired beautifully with neutral tones, creating a clean and elevated look that fit perfectly within her brand aesthetic. The result was a collection of images that feels both professional and personal. This combination helps potential clients connect with the person behind the business.

The Importance of Bringing Brand Props

One of the things Rachel did especially well was bringing meaningful props to her session. She arrived with custom Dean Bookkeeping Solutions business cards featuring her branding and QR code. These small details instantly elevated her gallery and gave us opportunities to create images she can use on her website, social media, marketing materials, and client communications.

We also incorporated her laptop, cell phone, coffee mug, and even a champagne toast image to celebrate business milestones and accomplishments. These types of photographs help tell a much more complete story than headshots alone. They give potential clients a glimpse into how you work and what it’s like to work with you.

The Trader Joe’s Flowers That Stole the Show

One of my favorite details from Rachel’s branding session was the bucket of flowers she brought from Trader Joe’s.

I absolutely loved this idea.

The soft white blooms and eucalyptus tied perfectly into her brand colors and added warmth throughout the session. We used them in a variety of ways—from styling detail photographs with her business cards to creating more relaxed lifestyle portraits.

The flowers added movement, texture, and personality while still feeling professional and refined. They also helped create a gallery with greater variety, which is always a win for branding clients.

It’s a great reminder that props don’t need to be expensive or elaborate. Sometimes a simple grocery store flower run ends up becoming one of the most memorable elements of the entire session.

Creating Variety in One Studio Session

One of the biggest goals during every branding session is creating enough variety that the images can be used for months… or even years!

During Rachel’s session we created:

  • Professional headshots
  • Lifestyle working images with her laptop
  • Phone consultation images
  • Coffee break and behind-the-scenes content
  • Business card and branding detail photographs
  • Floral lifestyle portraits
  • Celebratory images for launches, milestones, and announcements

Although everything was photographed in a single location, the variety of poses, props, and setups created a gallery that feels incredibly diverse.

Branding Photography for Cape Cod Business Owners

While Rachel’s business is based on Cape Cod, she chose to have her branding session in my Scituate studio because of the clean natural light, neutral design, and versatility of the space.

For many business owners, a studio branding session offers the perfect balance of professionalism and flexibility. We can create polished content without worrying about weather, crowded locations, or distracting backgrounds.

The bright, airy aesthetic of the studio allows your brand, and your personality, to remain the focus.
