Being a Plymouth MA Senior Photographer means I get to witness some seriously magical September evenings – and Kiera’s senior session was no exception. September is basically the MVP of senior portraits: golden light, blooming wildflowers, and those sunsets that make you gasp out loud. Kiera, a senior at Plymouth North High School, picked the perfect time of year for her photos. Spoiler: she nailed it.
If you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a Massachusetts photographer specializing in photography that is light-filled and natural. I reside in Scituate, MA with my husband and two little boys. My blog is a place where I showcase all of my latest and greatest sessions! If you’d like to learn more about my senior packages and book your own senior session, head to the homepage of my website now.
We started with Kiera in the prettiest light blue sundress. Picture this: sea grasses swaying, sand dunes glowing, and her golden hair catching every ounce of sunlight. It was like Mother Nature decided to be our personal lighting assistant.

Next up? A quick change into a dreamy sage green maxi dress. Flowy, elegant, and completely perfect for beach photos. We wandered by a rustic beach fence lined with goldenrod flowers, which made the whole scene look like it belonged on a postcard. Honestly, I could’ve stayed there photographing her all night.
But the best was yet to come…. the ocean. As we wrapped up by the shoreline, the sky put on a show. We’re talking cotton candy pinks, soft golds, and one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen as a South Shore senior photographer. (Yes, I say that a lot, but this time I mean it.)

Want to know a secret? September is the absolute best month for senior photos. No humidity, dreamy colors, and sunsets that refuse to quit. If you’re looking for inspiration for your Boston South Shore senior portraits, let Kiera’s gallery convince you.

Kiera, you made photographing the Class of 2026 look effortless. Between the dresses, the light, and that beach backdrop, your session was unforgettable. I already know you’re going to do amazing things… congratulations on your senior year!
Many of my clients ask me, “When is the best time of year for senior pictures?” While most of my seniors love late July, August, or early September, my personal favorite months are late September and October. The air is crisper, the humidity and bugs have calmed down, the chance of pop-up thunderstorms drops way down, and the light turns extra golden – making everything feel dreamy and effortless.
If your school requires a senior portrait for the yearbook, you’ll want to plan your session for the summer before senior year or early fall of senior year. The most important thing to remember? Book your date as soon as possible! I recommend booking at least four months in advance – ideally by April or May of junior year. Many of my clients even use our priority booking system to reserve their session a full year ahead of time! Priority Booking means you’ll reserve your preferred month for senior portraits, place your deposit, and be officially guaranteed a spot during that month. Your exact session date will be selected in April.
