While I’m a South Shore photographer, many of my seniors travel from all over Massachusetts for their sessions – including Hopkinton! So, if you’re searching for a Hopkinton MA senior photographer but dreaming of golden, beachy portraits by the ocean, I’m your girl. And if you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a Massachusetts photographer specializing in photography that is light-filled and natural. I reside in Scituate, MA with my husband and two little boys. My blog is a place where I showcase all of my latest and greatest sessions! If you’d like to learn more about my senior packages and book your own senior session, head to the homepage of my website now.
Olivia, a senior at Hopkinton High School, was one of those amazing seniors who made the trip for a sunrise session. And let me tell you – it was proof that sometimes the best plans are the ones that go sideways. She and her sweet mom, Jessica, made the smart call to crash at a friend’s beach house so they could avoid a 3 a.m. car ride. Genius move, right? But even the most organized plans come with surprises… like forgetting the jeans. And when I say the jeans, you know exactly what I mean. The non-negotiable pair. The ones that absolutely had to make an appearance.
Cue Dad, our knight in shining armor, who heroically agreed to drive them all the way from Hopkinton at the crack of dawn. Until he arrived, we rolled with it – and honestly? This was the best wardrobe snaffu in the history of wardrobe snaffus.
Olivia started in a slate-blue flowy dress that looked like it was designed specifically for sunrise. We shot along the shoreline, with waves crashing, golden light dancing on the seaweed-strewn sand, and the rocks glowing behind her. She twirled, laughed, and absolutely owned that early-morning light. Working as a Hopkinton MA senior photographer, I love capturing seniors in these natural, coastal backdrops that we just don’t get inland.

Next, she changed into a short white sundress, perfect for strolling barefoot through the sea grass. The sun peeked over the rock wall, giving us that dreamy golden halo effect that photographers literally drool over. Olivia leaned into the moment, striking poses that were both effortlessly chic and totally carefree. For anyone looking for a Hopkinton MA senior photographer, sessions like this show just how magical it can be to bring your portraits to the beach.

Her long teal dress was the ultimate “walking down the beach like it’s your runway” look. Against the dramatic backdrop of rocks and crashing waves, she gave me magazine-cover vibes. The movement of the dress, the wind, the morning glow – it was chef’s kiss. One of the perks of being a Hopkinton MA senior photographer is getting to meet students who want something different from the usual field or schoolyard photos: they’re here for adventure.

Finally, the long-awaited jeans made their debut. Paired with the cutest white eyelet tank, Olivia gave us a more casual, relaxed look. We found a lifeguard stand for her to perch on, and the whole vibe was pure summer nostalgia. Think: barefoot in the sand, soft sea breeze, and that confident “about to take on senior year” smile. Totally worth Dad’s rescue mission.

What was supposed to be a simple, hour-long sunrise session turned into a four-outfit extravaganza… and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Olivia and Jessica were such a joy to spend the morning with, and I can already tell Olivia is going to take her senior year by storm.
Congratulations, Olivia! Your gallery is proof that sometimes the best sessions happen when things don’t go as planned.
Many of my clients ask me, “When is the best time of year for senior pictures?” While most of my seniors love late July, August, or early September, my personal favorite months are late September and October. The air is crisper, the humidity and bugs have calmed down, the chance of pop-up thunderstorms drops way down, and the light turns extra golden – making everything feel dreamy and effortless.
If your school requires a senior portrait for the yearbook, you’ll want to plan your session for the summer before senior year or early fall of senior year. The most important thing to remember? Book your date as soon as possible! I recommend booking at least four months in advance – ideally by April or May of junior year. Many of my clients even use our priority booking system to reserve their session a full year ahead of time! Priority Booking means you’ll reserve your preferred month for senior portraits, place your deposit, and be officially guaranteed a spot during that month. Your exact session date will be selected in April.
