If you’re considering Duxbury Beach senior portraits in Massachusetts, Ayanna’s session is the perfect example of why this location is such a dream. We met on a bright July morning for her two-hour session, and between the soft ocean breeze, clear skies, and golden sand, everything aligned beautifully. With four stunning outfits, a bold, butter yellow dress that stole the show, and the sweetest family in tow, Ayanna brought this session to life in the most effortless way.
If you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a MA photographer specializing in photography that is light-filled and natural. I reside in Scituate, MA with my husband and two little boys. My blog is a place where I showcase all of my latest and greatest sessions! If you’d like to learn more about my senior packages and book your own senior session, head to the homepage of my website now. asdf
Ayanna is a senior at Silver Lake High School in Kingston, MA, and I first got to meet her and her mom when they came into my Scituate studio for a pre-session consultation. (Consults are included in many of my senior portrait packages!) I knew immediately that I was going to love working with them – not only because Ayanna is absolutely stunning and was going to make my job easy, but also because she and her mom were so fun, sweet, and excited about the process. Her dad joined us for the session too, and the three of them together were such a joy to be around.

Ayanna came prepared with four amazing outfits for her two-hour session, and each one brought something completely unique to her gallery. She started in a jaw-dropping, flowy, butter yellow dress that stole the show against the soft tones of the sand and sea. When we first arrived at the beach, we were greeted by a surprise sandbar that had been sculpted by the tides – and I made a beeline for it, knowing it would vanish in about 20 minutes. The sandbar had the most beautiful ripples, giving off subtle vibes of the iconic sand dunes at Death Valley National Park. With Ayanna in that butter yellow gown, the entire scene felt like something out of a dream – sun-kissed, windswept, and full of movement. From the moment she stepped onto the beach, she completely owned the space – confident, graceful, and glowing.

After the butter yellow dress for her senior pictures, Ayanna transitioned into a white eyelet mini dress for a playful, fresh look. Then came a chic, breezy white top paired with light-wash wide-leg denim – perfect for portraits under the weathered wood of the Powder Point Bridge. Finally, she slipped into a navy tank and white pants for a polished but relaxed coastal vibe, finishing out the session with elegance and ease.

Not every senior session has to take place at golden hour! Morning sessions like Ayanna’s offer their own brand of magic – especially if you love a light and airy aesthetic. The beach is calm and quiet, the light is crisp and vibrant, and you often get the entire shoreline to yourself.
Ayanna specifically chose a morning session because she was in search of light, bright, and natural-looking senior photos – and Duxbury Beach delivered exactly that. The sun gave us clean, even light that let her outfits (especially that butter yellow senior photo dress!) truly shine. And while this particular day was hot and humid -classic Massachusetts in July – Ayanna powered through like a total pro. You’d never know we were all melting between outfit changes!

Duxbury Beach is one of my favorite locations for senior portraits in Massachusetts. From the classic New England fencing and wild beach roses to the sweeping ocean views and the historic Powder Point Bridge, it offers endless options for variety and beauty in one spot.

Class of 2026, whether you’re local to Duxbury or traveling in, I’d love to create a custom session that fits your vibe – bright and bold, soft and dreamy, or somewhere in between
If you will need your senior pictures for your yearbook, you’ll want to have them taken the summer before your senior year or the autumn of your senior year. Do keep in mind that you should contact me as SOON as possible to schedule. I recommend booking at least 4 months in advance. In other words, you should ideally have your session scheduled by April or May of your junior year. However, I often have clients pre-book their session as early as an entire YEAR in advance! This is because they want to make sure they secure a prime spot.
Many of my clients ask “Which month IS a prime spot for senior pictures?” Overall, my high school senior ladies prefer late July, August, or early September for their pictures. On the other hand, I personally prefer late September or October! It’s consistently less humid, less sticky, less buggy, less chance for sudden thunderstorms, and more golden :-). If you’re booking at the last minute and can’t get the date you want, don’t worry, there is also an option to book a sunrise session or mid-day session! In addition, you should also absolutely add your name to my waitlist.
