When Ayla and her mom first reached out about booking senior portraits, we originally planned to meet on Plum Island for her session. But as New England weather often does, it had other plans – and after a last-minute reschedule, we shifted to the South Shore instead. And honestly? It turned out to be perfect. You can NEVER go wrong with beach senior portraits on the South Shore of MA.
If you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a South Shore photographer specializing in photography that is light-filled and natural. I reside in Scituate, MA with my husband and two little boys. My blog is a place where I showcase all of my latest and greatest sessions! If you’d like to learn more about my senior packages and book your own senior session, head to the homepage of my website now.

Ayla and her mom made the trip down from Nashua, New Hampshire, and I was so glad they were up for a location change. We met at one of my favorite coastal spots on the South Shore of Massachusetts, and it truly couldn’t have been more beautiful. The soft dune grasses, pastel skies, and golden light created the dreamiest backdrop for Ayla’s portraits.

Ayla’s outfit choices were spot-on for her beach senior portraits on the South Shore of MA. She started the session in a flowy floral maxi dress that was pure beachy elegance, then changed into a relaxed but polished look with a white ruffled top and light-wash jeans. The combination was effortlessly stylish and added such great variety to her gallery.

If you’re thinking about beach senior portraits in Massachusetts, the South Shore has so much to offer. Fewer crowds, soft sunset light, glowing sea grass, and quiet stretches of sand make for timeless, natural portraits that truly stand out.

While this session ended up being on the South Shore, I do travel all over New England and the east coast for senior portraits – from the North Shore and Cape Cod to New Hampshire and beyond. My travel fees vary based on distance and are available to view when you go to book your session. Whether you’re local or coming from out of town like Ayla, I’ll make sure your session is easy, fun, and beautifully customized to you.

If you will need your senior pictures for your yearbook, you’ll want to have them taken the summer before your senior year or the autumn of your senior year. Do keep in mind that you should contact me as SOON as possible to schedule. I recommend booking at least 4 months in advance. In other words, you should ideally have your session scheduled by April or May of your junior year. However, I often have clients pre-book their session as early as an entire YEAR in advance! This is because they want to make sure they secure a prime spot.
Many of my clients ask “Which month IS a prime spot for senior pictures?” Overall, my high school senior ladies prefer late July, August, or early September for their pictures. On the other hand, I personally prefer late September or October! It’s consistently less humid, less sticky, less buggy, less chance for sudden thunderstorms, and more golden :-). If you’re booking at the last minute and can’t get the date you want, don’t worry, there is also an option to book a sunrise session or mid-day session! In addition, you should also absolutely add your name to my waitlist.
Would you like to hire Christina Runnals as your own senior portrait photographer? Then you can book your session now, or find out more about a senior portrait session with Christina Runnals Photography! You can even view all of my pricing and package options here! Hope to hear from you soon!
