Autumn’s Last Stand

What’s better than a mid-November family portrait session? How about one where the leaves are just stubborn enough to stay, providing a backdrop that even the most artistic painter would envy! The Shanahan family was fortunate to catch some lingering autumn foliage, which played beautifully with their timeless outfits. And to top it off, the weather decided to be a gracious host, offering a mild day that kept everyone cozy. It’s always a good idea to be prepared; I typically advise my November and December clients to have an extra outfit or some stylish outerwear handy—just in case the weather pulls a fast one!

Style Points All Around | Tips from a Photographer in Scituate MA

The Shanahans brought their A-game when it came to family style! Kristen was practically glowing in her long floral dress, cinched with a brown leather belt that seemed to shout “photogenic!” Meanwhile, Bob kept it effortlessly cool in simple brown khakis and a light sweater that blended seamlessly into the autumn scenery. And little Chloe? Let’s just say her deep emerald green velvet dress was the perfect showstopper. If there were a fashion award for two-year-olds, she would have won it hands down!

A Sweet Moment

One of the absolute highlights of the session was a hilarious moment where Bob gave Chloe a piggyback ride. Imagine my surprise when she nonchalantly took his glasses and plopped them onto her own adorable face! I couldn’t help but burst into laughter; thankfully, I managed to click a shot amidst the giggles! Now that’s a memory I’m sure they’ll cherish forever. As an experienced photographer in Scituate MA, these are simply the moments I live for.

Sunsets and Sweet Smiles

As the sun began its descent into the horizon, we ventured into a tall field of grass that seemed to be whispering sweet nothings to us. Here, the magic of familial love took center stage. We captured those precious moments of Chloe picking the last flowers of the season while playfully tugging at her mom’s skirt. Seeing their interactions filled my heart with warmth. Meeting this lovely family was a true privilege, and I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to freeze these moments in time for them.

In short, the Shanahans’ portrait session not only highlighted their unique personalities but also reminded us of the joy found in simple family moments, especially when combined with the fleeting beauty of autumn!

For your pictures, do keep in mind that you should request your session as soon as possible. I recommend booking at least 6 to 8 months in advance for June, July, August, and September dates, and 4-5 months in advance for October dates. I often have clients book as early as an entire year in advance to make sure they secure a prime spot! Because we live in New England, there are only so many months to take your pictures, right!? (That is… unless you want to be wearing snowsuits in your pictures ;-).

Last-Minute Photo Session Booking

If you’re booking at the last minute and can’t get the date you want, you can first check to see if I have any Beach Piggyback Sessions or Fall Piggyback Sessions available. These are quick, 30-minute portrait sessions that take place before sessions that I already have on my calendar. Wondering why you see no weekend dates available? This is because I do not work on weekends, with the exception of my exclusive mini-session events!
