Our journey began with a virtual consultation with Lauren and her adorable mom, Julie. Since Lauren lives a little far from me, we covered everything from outfits to poses while sipping our morning coffee—well, I was, at least! Many of my sunrise clients opt for a quick overnight stay nearby, but need I say, Lauren and Julie decided to tackle the early wake-up call. I think they made the right choice; who wants a hotel full of noisy neighbors right before picture day? Not us!

The Sunrise Showdown for Winchester Massachusetts Senior Photos

Lauren and Julie rolled into the beach at the crack of dawn—6 AM sharp, to be exact—and oh boy, what a warm late-August morning it was! Now, here’s a fun fact: planning for outfit order for sunrise sessions can be as tricky as finding matching socks in a laundry basket. You want to showcase your favorite outfit just right, balancing how the early morning light transitions from soft and golden to bright and sparkling. Lauren decided to kick off her session in a classic navy tank and jeans, glowing like the sunrise itself while perched on some rocky shores. Talk about a strong start!

The Dress of Dreams

After we captured those perfect shots, it was time for a wardrobe change. Enter the stunning sage green satin dress—an absolute knockout! Lauren looked positively radiant, and it was hard not to submit that outfit for an award. If there were a fashion council for beachy vibes, she’d be the reigning queen. We even snapped a few jaw-dropping shots that made it seem like she was posing against some fairytale ruins—move over, castles! Lauren wrapped up her session in an adorable short white cotton dress. I mean, twirling in a flowy skirt is basically a requisite for a solid beach photo shoot, right? It was the perfect way to enjoy a summer morning with this fabulous duo, and I couldn’t have asked for better company. Big shoutout to Julie for being an awesome sidekick too!

Scheduling Your Senior Pictures

If you’re wondering when the perfect time is for Winchester Massachusetts senior photos, the summer before or the autumn of your senior year is your golden window. Pro tip: the earlier, the better! Aim to schedule your session at least four months in advance—April or May of your junior year is ideal. Sounds overwhelming? Don’t worry! Many of my clients even look forward a year ahead to secure their spot.

Many of my clients ask “Which month IS a prime spot for senior pictures?” Overall, my high school senior ladies prefer late July, August, or early September for their pictures. On the other hand, I personally prefer late September or October! It’s consistently less humid, less sticky, less buggy, less chance for sudden thunderstorms, and more golden :-). If you’re booking at the last minute and can’t get the date you want, don’t worry, there is also an option to book a sunrise session or mid-day session!
