Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing the Andrews family as they made the trip from Natick to the stunning South Shore of Massachusetts for their family portraits. With a backdrop of golden grasses and towering pine trees, they braved a chilly but gloriously sunny November day—defining what it means to be “picture perfect.” If you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a Natick Massachusetts family photographer specializing in creating images that are luminous and full of joy. My blog is a place where I showcase all of my latest sessions. If you’d like to learn more about my family portrait packages and book your own family session, simply head to my website.
Now, let’s talk about style! Nicole was absolutely radiant with her flowing long blond hair, sporting a chocolate brown sweater, stylish suede boots, and the quintessential blue jeans. Andy and the kids rocked their denim, neutrals, creams, and plaid combos—perfectly coordinating outfits that screamed fall chic. Who knew you could have a photo session that doubled as a fashion runway? Adorable ensembles aside, the wind had other ideas on that chilly day.
Ah, New England weather, the fickle friend of photographers everywhere! Just days before the Andrews’ shoot, I was capturing smiles at the beach in full summer attire. Flash forward to our lovely field on the South Shore, where sunshine deceived us into thinking it would be warm and cozy. Instead, we were met with wind that could give a hairdryer a run for its money! But hey, what’s a little wind and cold when you have the giggles of children in the air?
As an experienced Natick Massachusetts family photographer, I can tell you that no family photo shoot would be complete without just a smidge of chaos. This time, it was Margot who decided that the tall grasses were indeed a threat to her well-being! As a fellow mom to a 5-year-old, I could totally empathize. I mean, tall grasses can be intimidating, right? So, our session ended up being a wonderful mix of 10% tears (thanks, tall grasses!), 20% classic family chaos, and an impressive 70% laughter and fun. You know it’s a successful shoot when you’re laughing instead of crying—mostly!
Despite the initial fright, Margot proved that she’s a true star in the making. With some heartwarming smiles breaking through the tears, we managed to capture some of the most genuinely adorable photos. Seriously, Margot turned what could have been an awkward moment into pure gold! Watching the Andrews family bond over these little hiccups made this session a joy. They were not just a good-looking family; they were a fun-loving, warm-hearted bunch that I truly loved working with.
Inspired by the Andrews’ adventure? If you want to create your own wonderful family memories, why not consider booking a session?! I specialize in capturing the beautiful chaos that family life brings. Just a tip for those looking ahead—try to book your session a solid 6 to 8 months in advance for prime summer months. It’s all about being prepared, especially in a place where you might need to switch from sundresses to snowsuits in less than a week!
Don’t panic if you find yourself in a last-minute situation, either! I often have Beach Piggyback Sessions or Fall Piggyback Sessions available. If you’re a morning person, we can even possibly squeeze in a sunrise session—because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a sleepy, peaceful morning with the promise of a beautiful day ahead?
Hope to hear from you soon, ready to create some beautiful memories—snowsuits optional!
