I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Sophia’s senior portrait session at Duxbury Beach! As she prepares to graduate from Duxbury High School, I couldn’t help but reminisce about taking her older siblings, Mia and Tripp’s, senior portraits two years ago. It was a joy to reconnect with the family and see how much Sophia has blossomed. If you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a Duxbury MA photographer specializing in photography that is light-filled and natural. I reside in Scituate, MA with my husband and two little boys. My blog is a place where I showcase all of my latest and greatest sessions! If you’d like to learn more about my senior packages and book your own senior session, head to the homepage of my website now.
We began our adventure on a lovely sandy path lined with beautiful golden seagrass. Sophia looked fantastic in her floral tank top and light-colored jeans—such a perfect match for the vibrant setting! It was the ideal environment to kick off our session and capture some memorable moments.
Next, we walked over to the iconic Powder Point Bridge, a stunning local landmark. The rich color of the wood and the way the sunlight streamed through the beams created a breathtaking backdrop. I suggested Sophia change into a white dress. As an experienced Duxbury MA photographer, I believed the dress would really pop against the dark wood. And it did!
After finishing up at the bridge, we made our way to the shoreline. This was where things got even more fun! Sophia twirled and splashed in the waves, capturing her exuberance and joy. We got some beautiful sitting poses and dynamic shots that perfectly reflected her spirit.
We then found a picturesque spot near a charming fence surrounded by seagrass, which added a unique touch to the portraits. As a long time Duxbury MA photographer, I can tell you that the fences are some of my favorite spots at Duxbury Beach!
Finally, as the session was wrapping up, Sophia changed into a long blue sundress, and we were able to catch the tail end of sunset. The golden hour light was simply magical, providing a stunning finish to our time together.
If you will need your senior pictures for your yearbook, you’ll want to have them taken the summer before your senior year or the autumn of your senior year. Do keep in mind that you should contact me as SOON as possible to schedule. I recommend booking at least 4 months in advance. In other words, you should ideally have your session scheduled by April or May of your junior year. However, I often have clients pre-book their session as early as an entire YEAR in advance! This is because they want to make sure they secure a prime spot.
Many of my clients ask “Which month IS a prime spot for senior pictures?” Overall, my high school senior ladies prefer late July, August, or early September for their pictures. On the other hand, I personally prefer late September or October! It’s consistently less humid, less sticky, less buggy, less chance for sudden thunderstorms, and more golden :-). If you’re booking at the last minute and can’t get the date you want, don’t worry, there is also an option to book a sunrise session or mid-day session! In addition, you should also absolutely add your name to my waitlist.
Would you like to hire Christina Runnals as your own senior portrait photographer? Then you can book your session now, or find out more about a senior portrait session with Christina Runnals Photography! You can even view all of my pricing and package options here! Hope to hear from you soon!
