As fall settles in and seniors prepare for the next chapter in their lives, it becomes a wonderful time for capturing memories. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Hailey, a senior at Scituate High School in Scituate, Massachusetts, for her senior pictures. With her bright smile, passion for cheerleading, and a love for the beach, the session was nothing short of magical! I just loved capturing these Scituate cheerleader senior pictures. If you are new to my blog, welcome! I’m Christina Runnals, a Massachusetts senior portrait photographer specializing in photography that is light-filled and natural. I reside in Scituate, MA with my husband and two little boys. My blog is a place where I showcase all of my latest and greatest sessions! If you’d like to learn more about my senior packages and book your own senior session, head to the homepage of my website now.
We scheduled Hailey’s shoot in late October—a decision laced with the potential for unpredictable New England weather. Fortunately, we lucked out with a stunningly beautiful day! We planned our session for 9 AM, taking advantage of the crisp morning air while allowing the sun to warm us up gradually.
Hailey wanted her pictures to feel natural and easygoing, moving away from the traditional posed shots. That preference aligned perfectly with my style, making the creative process a breeze!
One of the standout features of this session was her blue Scituate High School cheerleading pom-poms. We ventured down to the shoreline, where the waves crashed dramatically against the rocks—a perfect backdrop for some energetic cheer poses. Hailey donned a lovely blue dress to match her pom-poms, creating a cohesive and vibrant look. The photos truly captured her spirited energy as she performed cheers, her laughter blending harmoniously with the sounds of the ocean.
In addition to her cheerleading gear, Hailey wore a stunning long, flowy one-shouldered white dress, which added an element of elegance to the shoot. The soft fabric flowed beautifully as she moved along the beach, highlighting her graceful demeanor. For a cozy yet chic touch, she also slipped on a cream-colored slouchy sweater, perfectly complementing the seagrass and beach fence backdrop.
I’ll wrap this up by saying Hailey’s radiant personality shone through every shot. Besides her cheerful nature, I couldn’t help but notice her gorgeous long red hair, which added an enchanting touch to the photos. The way it flowed in the ocean breeze created an effortless look that felt both timeless and modern.
This session was an absolute joy, and I cannot wait for Hailey to look back on these images as she embarks on her next adventure beyond high school. Her enthusiasm, talent, and beauty made for memorable photos that truly reflect her spirit as a Scituate cheerleader. Here’s to Hailey and all the exciting moments ahead!
If you will need your senior pictures for your yearbook, you’ll want to have them taken the summer before your senior year or the autumn of your senior year. Do keep in mind that you should contact me as SOON as possible to schedule. I recommend booking at least 4 months in advance. In other words, you should ideally have your session scheduled by April or May of your junior year. However, I often have clients pre-book their session as early as an entire YEAR in advance! This is because they want to make sure they secure a prime spot.
Many of my clients ask “Which month IS a prime spot for senior pictures?” Overall, my high school senior ladies prefer late July, August, or early September for their pictures. On the other hand, I personally prefer late September or October! It’s consistently less humid, less sticky, less buggy, less chance for sudden thunderstorms, and more golden :-). If you’re booking at the last minute and can’t get the date you want, don’t worry, there is also an option to book a sunrise session or mid-day session! In addition, you should also absolutely add your name to my waitlist.
