I have the cutest Marshfield 1 year photo shoot to share with you all today! Violette is so adorable!! I have been photographing her since she was a newborn. Can you believe it?! She was an absolute doll for her milestone session today. Keep scrolling to see a few of my favorite images from her session!

1 Year Photo Shoot Details and Setup

For Violette’s pictures, we went to a local field where I had spotted a blooming tree a few days back. I brought along a few flowers I had grabbed from my yard to sprinkle on the ground too! On my way to the shoot, I actually stopped to scope out two last minute locations I thought I might want to use instead. In fact, this is actually a weird thing I often do at the very last minute haha! I’m always looking for the next prettiest tree or flower bloom! Along with the flower petals, Violette’s mom packed a picnic basket, teddy bear, and book to use as props. I always recommend incorporating a few simple props if you would like your photos to have more of an editorial feel. We were hoping Violette might stand up by holding onto the picnic basket, but one year olds rarely do exactly what you’re hoping during a photo shoot!

Why Take Milestone Pictures?

There are a few awesome things about milestone sessions! Firstly, you only have to get ONE person ready for photos!!! I suppose if you have twins or triplets that’s not the case hehe. But in many cases, it is just one baby or child you need to prepare. You do not have to figure out outfits for yourself, your husband, other children… the list goes on! Secondly, in the case of a 1 year photo shoot, babies are usually pretty well behaved and happy when they are one year old. When they turn that 18 month corner… yikes, good luck parents! Haha!! If you have other children, you of course know just what I’m talking about! Violette was a little angel her whole session! In fact, she did cry once for a moment, but a few little Gerber puff snacks fixed that situation right up!
